We feel so fortunate to be part of the CDS community. Our boys have both been enrolled since Kindergarten. One is now in middle school, the other in 4th grade. CDS offers strong academic instruction, without making kids feel "pressure." They do an amazing job balancing fun and learning and working with their city footprint to still allow for lots of outdoor time and time in nature. The teachers are what I love most about CDS. Each of my sons' teachers, from specials to math, and their main teachers have provided support and empowerment. Frequently, my boys have come home having done something they didn't think they themselves could do: from learning about difficult topics such as race relations to playing an instrument! When I have had a concern about something, I've always been able to reach out to Stacey, or the teachers and no matter how small my concern may have been, it was never dismissed. Beyond academics, CDS has instilled a love of learning in boys, as well as taught them community responsibility, and the importance of kindness. We'll continue to send our son to CDS through 8th grade, and I look forward to where this strong foundation takes them!

CDS is a Godsend. My daughter has flourished academically and socially in the very student-centered, nurturing environment. The teachers are top-notch and the experience has been a breath of fresh air. She runs into the building because she's so excited to go to school!

This is the top school in Charlottesville. Too many wonderful things to write. Schedule a tour. Seriously.
My reason for writing: Much of the information listed in this database is incorrect:
The CDS campus is conveniently located DOWNTOWN at 320 10th St NE, Charlottesville, VA 22902, which is diagonal from the old Martha Jefferson Hospital building.
CDS serves preschool through middle school. (2 years old through 8th grade)
