What stands out most about EDS is its strong sense of community. Teachers truly know each child as an individual, and parents are actively engaged in school life. There is a genuine feeling of connection and belonging that makes the school special.Academically, EDS has made significant strides in recent years. Our experience in the lower school was excellent, and the recent updates to the middle school curriculum have been especially impressive. Instruction is thoughtful and intentional, with a clear emphasis on curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. We have been consistently impressed by how engaged our children are in their learning and how confident they feel asking questions and exploring new ideas. One of the most meaningful moments of the EDS journey is the eighth-grade chapel talk. Years ago, when we were first considering the school, I remember sitting in the chapel and listening to an eighth grader speak with remarkable maturity, poise, and self-reflection. That moment left a lasting impression and captured exactly what we hoped for our own child. We wanted a school where our children would be challenged, supported, and truly known. EDS has delivered on all of that and more.

Our four children have all attended EDS, over a span of 14 years. It was an easy decision to send each subsequent child as the years rolled by. Our children are each individually known as learners, and more importantly, as little humans. My kids still return to school to attend Chapel Talks and special events and the welcome they receive from teachers and friends is heartwarming. As a parent, I have enjoyed all the various ways I can volunteer and engage with the community. From the service learning opportunities to the multiple parent social events, there is something for everyone throughout the year. You will feel the sense of community for students and families when you come tour the school.

Our family's journey with Episcopal Day School (EDS) began in Pre-K, and this June our son will graduate as an eighth grader, fully reflecting the school's mission of developing the whole child. EDS pairs strong academics with equal emphasis on athletics, arts, theatre, service, and character, intentionally teaching students to be confident, curious, and kind. Our son now presents comfortably in front of large audiences and carries thoughtful, intelligent conversations with adults-qualities that are the norm at EDS, not the exception. What first drew us to the school has proven true over time, and what kept us here is the deeply rooted sense of community, tradition, and opportunity. I highly recommend touring the school to see for yourself.
