School Notes
- The child and their needs are the central and commanding focus of the learning process at Esprit. It is the role of the teacher and of the school to observe, to know and to support the child as he or she proceeds through their stages of development. Each child has unlimited possibilities and the future rests on our ability to cultivate this potential.Esprit continues the work of Dr. Maria Montessori in developmental psychology and education using her models and thought work as guidance for how we engage in teaching our students. Our educators are also influenced by a number of leading educational theorists including Jean Piaget, Erik Erikson, Lev Vygotsky and Eric Jensen as well as the integration of the IB Primary Years Program (PYP).
- Learning, exploring, and smiling students are the most important members of our community, and they are the focus of an Esprit education. Underneath all our interactions with children lie the Montessori tenets: multi-aged, diverse classrooms; prepared environments designed to facilitate choices for children; teachers acting as role models and facilitators; and an atmosphere of respect, grace, and courtesy.
- Esprit offers a wonderfully unique educational environment, andwe invite you to experience it first-hand. Come for a visit, let our family welcome yours, and watch us live our mission as a community of families, staff, and trustees who work together, guided by the needs of our children.
