This school expects us to get 90%, and yet gives us no time to prepare. I`m a longtime student and this school has ruined my mental health and I can`t leave because the school tells my parents lies about how "good" KLS is. I can`t wait to graduate from this place.

For the past 2 years, new leadership has been pushing a more conventional education model for ease and convenience. Khan Lab School was once revolutionary, but now it is overrated. Teachers used to have a major voice in the school's vision and execution of it's mission, but now just follow the administration's directions.

KLS is a great home for families who care about strong academics without the stress of "doing school". Mastery-based learning means no gaps in one's education, project-based learning means kids are engaged and have agency in the learning process. There is 1-on-1 advising and a curriculum for teaching social and emotional learning. It's a small school with an emphasis on mixed-age learning and tutoring which really fosters community and compassion, not competition.
