School Notes

  • We offer Toddler, Primary (preschool + kindergarten) and Elementary programs, serving children from 16 months through 12 years old. Before-school and After-school care is available, as well as continuous summer programming in June, July and August. We are a nurturing community of students, teachers and families coming together to grow a generation of students who can change the world. The foundation of this is the 100-year-old Montessori method, which undergirds everything we do at Many Rivers Montessori.
  • Every one of our classrooms has a lead teacher, or guide, certified by the Association Montessori International (AMI-USA). We currently employ seven AMI-certified guides and have four classroom assistants with AMI Montessori assistant training. Many Rivers Montessori seeks to fulfill the stringent requirements for becoming an AMI Recognized School within the next three years. Many Rivers Montessori is a New School Services member of the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) and is actively working towards completing that organization's rigorous independent school accreditation process. ISACS is a membership organization of more than 230 independent schools from 13 states of the Midwest region, and promotes the development of strong learning communities characterized by high achievements, social responsibility, and independence of governance, programs and policies. Many Rivers Montessori is also a candidate member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). Many Rivers Montessori is licensed as a child care center by the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
  • We are located in the historic Jefferson School at 916 E. Third St. This is a bright and spacious building one block from St. Luke's Hospital and three blocks from the Lakewalk, Rose Garden, and Leif Erikson Park. The building has large rooms, loads of lovely natural light, and features a fenced-in natural playground and a garden. This convenient, central location means our students have wonderful opportunities to engage with the local community, enjoy outings by Lake Superior, or perform a play on the bluestone stage of Leif Erikson Park.
