We have been extremely happy with MCDS. Our daughter, who is in sixth grade now, has been there since she was a baby. All of our experience with MCDS has been nothing but positive. She absolutely thrives there and doesn't want to be anywhere else. They have been so great to work with! Some things that we love about MCDS are the academic rigor, the school/life flexibility, and the nurturing environment. First, you will find at MCDS that they are usually one year ahead of the public school system. But on top of this, they also place the students according to their needs. So, if they need to be challenged more, they will move them up to something more advanced. Likewise, if the student needs more help in a subject, MCDS will make sure the student gets the individual attention they need to succeed. This is so much better than the public school system, where every child has to fit the same mold. We also have an older son who has always been in the public school system. We clearly notice a difference in how MCDS sets their students up for success, while the public school tends to not cater to the individual needs. Either the student is advanced or they are not; there is no in-between, and it is really difficult to move up. Second, the faculty and administration at MCDS are always willing to work with us to ensure our daughter has what she needs. If we need to take a trip during school or she is sick from school, they have always been good to work with us to ensure that our daughter has what she needs and gives her the flexibility to make up work. They have also been very open to feedback about how to improve or what programs we would like to see added. They work very hard to see how they can accommodate these requests. Lastly, we really appreciate the nurturing environment they create at MCDS. My daughter is so happy there, we couldn't imagine sending her anywhere else. She is growing to be a confident, smart, and caring person, and we have to say a lot of that is due to her time at MCDS. The teachers really get to know the students and take the time to be a part of their lives, helping them grow into well-rounded individuals, whether it is joking with them at lunch, helping with pancake breakfast, or teaching one of the clubs. They teach the children to respect one another as well as the teachers at a very early age. The older students participate in a peer leader program where they work with the younger children to help them grow and learn. Not only is this a great program to teach the older students leadership skills and responsibility, but it helps provide a good example for the younger ones on how to behave and treat others. While MCDS is a small school, they are able to offer a nice variety of extracurricular activities for the students at all grade levels. They offer activities like track, soccer, cooking club, outdoor survival skills, drama, and a yearbook. The kids really love all of these, and it gives them something else to look forward to at school. It helps to build the camaraderie between the students regardless of age, and they really support each other. As a parent, we are very grateful for our daughter to have this wonderful experience.Mendham Country Day School has become a part of our family, and we couldn't imagine sending our daughter anywhere else.

I wanted to share some feedback about our experience at Mendham Country Day School (MCDS). We have children in 7th grade and 4th grade. We had started at MCDS in PK and had planned to go to public school. Plans were altered with COVID, and we have never looked back. Our kids have thrived academically and enjoyed participating in extracurricular activities. Both areas that we found lacking in public school where we felt that the teachers really did not know our kids. We've been particularly impressed with the middle school teachers and the overall middle school experience. The strong academic focus and supportive environment have been invaluable. We feel similarly about the elementary school, which also provides an excellent foundation. The after-school programs, including Cross Country, Drama Club, Outdoor Living Skills Club, and Cooking Club, have also been exceptional. The teachers and staff leading these activities have been wonderful role models and have created a sense of community outside the classroom. We can't recommend MCDS enough, as it provides such a positive experience for our children.

A school that actually teaches to each INDIVIDUAL child - a MIRACLE! MCDS is a school like no other. They take the time to get to know and really see every child - enabling them to understand where each student is at and what motivates and excites them. Their goal is to ensure each child is truly learning - not bored or lost, but just right at the edge where they are experiencing new information and able to learn efficiently. This school has been such a blessing for our family because of the time spent to really understand each of my kids. The school is sensitive to how neurodivergent kids think and leverage a number of creative solutions to ensure that every child can perform at their best - making accommodations in the classroom in a way that none of the other students even notice - and done so consistently that most of the students benefit from some accommodation or another. When we were in the public school system, we were told that my son was struggling and behind, yet he told us he was bored. What we saw was a kid that was sad, angry and self-conscious. After switching to MCDS where the curriculum and teaching style enables recognition of his strengths, he is functioning above grade level with straight A's and is loving school again. Because of MCDS, my kids truly love learning and going to school again. Beyond the academics, I love MCDS because they create well-rounded kids. All of the students engage in band/music, art, various specials, and have access to participate in various sports (e.g., cross country) and after school programming (e.g., drama club, science team). They also have created an amazing community by enabling special events like movies under the stars and concerts on the lawn and fun kids nights out (so mom and dad can get a date night out too!). We are so incredibly grateful for every teacher and administrator that makes this school an amazing place for my kids to grow up.

Our children have thrived at MCDS. We enrolled both of our children at just four months old in the Young Infants program. Since then, the school has provided not only a nurturing and fun environment as well as a rigorous curriculum, it has become in many ways an extension of our family. The commitment and dedication shown by the teachers and staff is remarkable. Every teacher and every staff member has been willing to work with us as a team towards the growth and success of our children, and we are immensely grateful for their unwavering support. It has been incredible to witness our children's positive transformation through academic and extracurricular programs. Their experiences at MCDS have enriched their knowledge, instilled values like kindness, respect, integrity, and teamwork, and inspired a passion for learning that will serve them well throughout their lives.

I cannot say enough good things about Mendham Country Day School! If you're looking for a school that combines academic rigor with a small, tight-knit, warm, nurturing environment, look no further than MCDS. We started our daughter in the older infant room when she was a little over a year old, and I could not have asked for a better experience. The teachers here are truly exceptional鈥攄edicated, passionate, loving, and always going the extra mile. What impressed me most was the teacher retention rate in the infant-preschool classrooms, especially. It's pretty unheard of to have teachers in these levels for 10+ years, and that says it all.Family and friends always comment on my now 3-year-old's vocabulary, knowledge, and independence, and I have to say it is all MCDS. She's receiving a phenomenal education reinforced by so many fun activities, but even more importantly, she loves going to school every day!

Brilliant school. Children have attended since pre-k and now entering 5th and 6th grades. I can`t say enough about how fantastic our experience has been here. Faculty and leadership is exceptional. Everyone cares deeply about each child and knows them on a close, personal level. All are always accessible and hyper-responsive. Student teacher ratio is 7:1. 6th grade is currently 6 students -all exceptional children. Academics are rigorous but fair. Students are taught at their level - all teaching is customized to a students interest and capability. For example there are a handful of students in 6th who are doing high school level math (geometry and algebra 1), and 5th grade students who are participating in pre-algebra. Reading levels are also advanced to students capabilities. My children have absolutely loved their time here - it`s like an extended family/home. Every year it gets better and better. In fact, this year, the school is investing heavily in expanding its technology and science programs. Each student at appropriate grade levels will receive laptops and expand their knowledge of coding, robotics, and computing proficiency. Science program is expanding to incorporate more lab work with a new science lab being installed. Social, extra curricular, and clubs are fantastic too (customized for each age-level and built around collective students interests). The school actively participates in a variety of competitions (ex science, math, health, spelling, chess) and adding several more categories this year (debate, music, robotics). The arts program is also fantastic. Instrumental music instructor is a force and has exceeded so many expectations -children so enjoy his class and teaching style. It`s really quite incredible. The families here care deeply about their children`s success / happiness and take an active interest in the school. They are quiet from a marketing perspective which in many ways has been great ... keeping it small, focused, and curated. There has been discussion about extending the program to 7th and 8th which would be a brilliant opportunity to prepare children for their high school experience wherever that may be (socially, academically and confidently). It`s truly a very special place. We couldn`t be happier.

After spending 6 years at Mendham Country Day School, I have found it to be a wonderful place. Students are welcomed into small classes where one on one teacher student time is encouraged. The staff provides safe and rigorous environment to learn in. Band, Music, Drama, and Art are all outstanding programs with students learning to play one if not two instruments along with singing. MCDS has not placed students by age, but by level of academic readiness. They are able to teach a 5th grader Algebra, but also help a 2nd grader with speech accuracy. With outstanding extracurricular activities, a wonderful faculty, and an amazing academic program, MCDS is the best little secret school in all of NJ

MCDS is offers high quality personalized education. School encourages students to perform at their best. Students are in safe environment to learn as much as they can. There are no barriers for learning. Art, music, drama and after school clubs are preferred activities for all students. My kids love school so much that they want to be early each day. I have seen several kids flourishing thanks to the kind hands of teachers and staff. School inspires passion for learning.

We have all 3 of our kids at Mendham Country Day School (MCDS). We are pleased with the level of academic focus and socialization that the kids are getting. My kids are definitely challenged with their school work. While they enjoy their class time they look forward to their playtime in aftercare. They are exposed to a variety of art and culture. MCDS has become our home away from home. I am thankful that my kids have a school where they are comfortable, safe and enjoy being.
