We Know Middle School. Millennium School is an independent middle school located in the heart of San Francisco, CA.
Drawing on research from neuroscience, psychology, and developmental science and designed specifcally for middle schoolers, our program rests on three pillars: whole-self education, inspired academics, and real-world experience.
The Millennium Way framework transforms our classrooms into dynamic learning labs where teaching Guides mirror, model and mentor students through academics and social-emotional growth.
Our unique academic structure combines new Humanities and STEM Quests each term with engaging language, math and art blocks.
Our weekly Wednesday off-campus programming and annual trips ensure that learning extends beyond textbooks and the classroom to foster identity development and personal growth.

School Notes

  • Purpose: Our purpose is to ignite adolescents' authentic connection to themselves, others, and the world.
  • Vision:We envision a world where adolescents are empowered for a life of well-being, grounded in awareness, compassion, wisdom, and purpose.
  • Mission:Our mission is to guide adolescents through a transformative coming-of-age journey that integrates challenging academics, real-world exploration, and self-discovery.
  • The Millennium Manifesto:We believe the middle school years are the springtime of human development - a uniquely rich opportunity to plant seeds of awareness and insight. We flip the lights on, brightly, in these most formative years, because our world needs fully engaged human beings.
  • Millennium is not just a traditional school; we are a learning lab. Making sense of the unknown is where we discover who we are. Our commitment is to ignite a passion for learning and build a self-perpetuating drive for curiosity. Students are encouraged to embrace failure, paradox, and complexity with playfulness and a growth mindset.
  • Bring your uniqueness, courage, and beauty - there is a place here for you.
  • Our staff are gifted and passionate educators, committed to modeling their own healthy growth. They immerse our students in the world outside of school through forums, quests, and expeditions. We are unapologetically audacious in our mission and define success as feeling fully alive and consciously engaged in the world.
  • Curiosity, creativity, and compassion are the most complex subjects to score high on at Millennium. We teach these relentlessly. Our kids leave school inspired.
  • We believe happiness and achievement are only meaningful together - one without the other is incomplete. Peace in our hearts is our first goal; knowing things follows naturally.
  • Our responsibility is to prepare students to excel in any school, know how to fall in love and love unconditionally, cry without feeling diminished, and never fear being who they are. We want them to see joy and power in being themselves.
