Our family has been at St. Matthias since 2021. There are so many reasons we love this school and community. First, the community is extremely close and offers such a strong support system for us as we don't have much family nearby. There are so many opportunities to connect with other families or parents. I am co-chair of our parent-led volunteer organization, Friends of St. Matthias, and also participate in our weekly Mom's volleyball games. My husband is part of my dad's SMS Mustang Club. Another reason we love the school is because of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. The added IB concepts are weaved into the curriculum (PreK 3 to 8th) and have helped our children become more confident (risk-takers), ask probing questions (inquirers), and challenge them to think about their impact on the wider community and world (principled). We are also the only Catholic IB School in Chicago!! Lastly, my husband and I both went to Catholic schools throughout our education and agree that it helped shape who we are today. St. Matthias is giving our kids the framework for creating their unique relationship with God, whatever that looks like for them. We are so happy to be a part of the St. Matthias community.

We love St. Matthias Catholic School! It's an International Baccalaureate (IB) school with exceptionally high testing results and small class sizes. The teachers are incredibly caring and committed to giving students a high-quality education. We have three children attending St. Matthias in 2nd, 1st, and Kindergarten, and we've been part of the school since PreK3. Initially, we had planned to move to the suburbs, but we fell in love with SMS and its warm, welcoming community. Most families live in the neighborhood, making the school feel like an extension of home. We've made close friendships with other parents, and the connection is truly special.Another huge benefit is affordability. At about $9,000 a year, St. Matthias offers excellent value鈥攎ore affordable than other Catholic and private schools in the area-without compromising quality. They even offer aftercare at an amazing rate, which has been a lifesaver for our family. The diversity at St. Matthias was also a big draw for us. We value diversity deeply, and we're thrilled our children are part of such an inclusive environment. We highly recommend St. Matthias to any family looking for a top-notch education in a diverse, supportive community at an affordable price. It's been a fantastic choice for our family, and we're so grateful to be part of this wonderful school!

From day one, teachers and administrators at St. Matthias have taught our girls the elementary fundamentals in a way that is engaging and provides a broader perspective on the world. They learn about other religions, cultures and countries and why it is important to be a citizen of the world, contribute to your community and be kind. During the pandemic, St. Matthias teachers have gone above and beyond to keep our kids safe and try to re-establish a sense of normalcy that's inline with science. Great teachers, great principal, great students and great community.
