St. Stephen's Lutheran School was founded in 1967 with the goal of providing top quality academic education in the context of Christian faith and learning.
In the first years, the school was housed in the parish house.
As the school grew in size year by year, it become obvious that more space was necessary.
The church soon acquired the property on the north side of Newkirk Avenue across the street from the church.
Here the school buildings were constructed where they still stand today.
St. Stephen's Lutheran School is a neighborhood school in the heart of Flatbush, NY.
Our student body and our faculty make up a melting pot representing many nations and cultures.
We are a small school, with small classes, which affords us the opportunity to offer each student individualized care and attention.
Through the years, St. Stephen's has stood for outstanding academic education and Christian faith formation in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Our alumni have gone on to great high schools and colleges and made outstanding contributions to their communities and their chosen fields.
Today, St. Stephen's serves children from pre-kindergarten to 8th grade. Together we are seeking to carry St. Stephen's tradition of academic excellence into the future.
