Enrichment is built into the school day. Foreign language, instrumental music, visual and performing arts, Maker and engineering, STEM, and hands-on science in our on-campus teaching zoo are part of the WHPS experience, not extras.

by their grade level. WHPS is especially well suited for high
achieving and gifted learners and children ready to move beyond

LEARNING WITHOUT A CEILING. Grade level tells
us a child's age. It does not tell us the limits of what that child
can learn. Our deeply leveled, personalized curriculum meets
students where they are and provides meaningful opportunities for
advancement, acceleration, and enrichment within an age appropriate
social community.
TWO TEACHERS. ONE HIGHLY PERSONALIZED
CLASSROOM. Elementary classes typically have 20 to 24
students with two full time teachers. It is a deliberate sweet
spot. Children have the friendships and social energy of a full
classroom along with exceptional individual attention, flexible
grouping, and differentiated instruction.
RIGOR AND JOY BELONG TOGETHER. At WHPS, rigor
is about how deeply children think, not simply how much work they
complete. Students write with voice and purpose, think
mathematically, solve unfamiliar problems, ask sophisticated
questions, collaborate, create, revise, and explain their thinking,
all while experiencing the curiosity and joy that should define
childhood.
ENRICHMENT IS PART OF THE EDUCATION. Foreign
language, instrumental music, visual and performing arts, Maker and
engineering, coding, STEM, and physical education are built into
the school experience. Children have opportunities throughout their
day to discover interests, develop talents, and find new ways to
think and create.
OUR TEACHING ZOO BRINGS SCIENCE TO LIFE. Our
on campus Science and Nature Center is home to more than 80 animals
and is part of the curriculum for children across grade levels.
From ecology, gardening, and animal husbandry to evolution and
genetics, students encounter science up close, hands on, and
connected to the living world around them.
EVERY CHILD HAS A NEXT STEP. Students learn to
evaluate their own academic habits and social skills using clear
developmental learning progressions. With their teachers, they set
specific academic and personal growth goals based on where they
are, where they want to grow, and what comes next. It is a powerful
blend of structure, specificity, student choice, and genuine
ownership of learning.
