The Guild for Human Services operates a year-round, special-education day and residential school for individuals ages 6-22.
At The Guild, we serve students who are diagnosed with intellectual disabilities, including autism, along with concurrent mental health diagnoses and challenging behaviors.
Through an approach that is strengths-based, trauma-informed, and outcomes-oriented, students benefit from our year-round, community-based programming guided by the principles of ABA and a Trauma-Informed Care framework. We individualize programming utilizing small staff-to-student ratios, expressive therapies, adapted physical education, and direct OT, speech, and counseling services. Students benefit from on-staff nursing and nutritionist, as well as on-site psychiatry consult and dental services.
School services are provided in Concord; residential services are offered in the neighboring communities of Watertown, Waltham and Billerica.

School Notes

  • Founded in 1945,The Guild for Human Servicestreats individuals diagnosed with mild to severe intellectual disabilities, autism and behavioral challenges. The non-profit organization moved to a 60,000-square-foot facility in suburban Concord two years ago. This transition is emblematic of the agency's recent growth; The Guild has doubled the number of individuals that it served just five years ago. The mission of The Guild is to educate, encourage and empower the individuals it serves so they may achieve their full potential to lead high-quality lives and participate meaningfully in society. The Guild is led by Chief Executive Officer Amy C. Sousa, PhD, who joined the organization in September 2017. She previously served as executive director of Wediko Children's Services and as executive director of the National Organization for Victim Assistance. Thomas P. Corcoran serves as president of The Guild's Board of Trustees. He has served on the board for more than a decade and was named president in 2018.
