Growing up, I have always been a public school advocate. I am outspoken, flexible, forgiving, and helpful but enough is enough. The public school system needs an update. The school we come to was a true and utter mess. And knowing this parents continue to send their kids there, year after year. BSD as a whole has gone down the drain in the last couple of years except for Washington Elementary. Bullies, teachers who could give a rip, principals that literally could dress up as a Sanderson sister daily and it would be believable. My son struggled because he was so quiet. He struggled socially and no one ever stepped in to help. They just allowed him to get bullied. One time, I heard "boys will be boys" from the principal. After much thought, we applied at St. Catherine's of Sienna school and when I tell you every aspect of the school is drastically different....every aspect of the school is drastically different. St. Catherine's has dedicated teachers who work incredibly hard, and long hours, and deserve enormous respect for their massive investment in the kids. These teachers know, care, for, and work with each one of these kids. The front desk admins are friendly, helpful,, and loving. The principal(Bandel) is friendly, willing to work with you, knows how to compromise,, and always puts the kids first. In fact, to her, it's all about the kids. And coming from public schools, it's different. Different rules, different ways to learn(like learning), and different ways the kids are expected to carry themselves but if you get a chance to attend this school, do it. You won't regret it. The kids learn, they are resilient and your child will bloom at this school
